Overview

Why quality control matters

Quality control is where sourcing profits are won or lost. A product that looked perfect in sample photos can arrive with the wrong stitching, loose components, or packaging that disintegrates in transit. The sellers who scale are the ones who inspect systematically — the ones who drown in refunds and 1-star reviews are the ones who trusted and hoped.

CN Ally's inspectors work to the AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) standard used across global manufacturing. We check your goods against your approved spec sheet and golden sample, test function and safety, verify packaging and labeling, and document every defect with close-up photos mapped to your defect classification.

The golden rule of our QC service: inspect before you pay the balance. Once the final payment leaves your account, your leverage over rework disappears. Our reports give you the evidence to demand corrections — and factories take documented AQL failures seriously because they know you won't release payment until it's resolved.

What's included

Everything handled for you

A complete service — not a checklist you have to manage yourself.

Pre-Production Inspection (PPI)

After raw materials arrive, before mass production: we verify materials, components, and colors against your approved specs. Catches wrong materials before they become a full production run of defects.

During Production Inspection (DPI)

At 20–30% completion, we check workmanship on the line and flag systematic defects while there's still time to correct them. Essential for orders over $20,000 or complex assembly.

Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI)

When 100% of goods are produced and 80%+ packed: full AQL sampling, quantity verification, function testing, and packaging checks. The non-negotiable inspection for every order.

Container Loading Supervision (CLS)

For full container loads: we supervise loading to confirm the right cartons go in, the container is dry and undamaged, and stacking will survive the voyage.

AQL sampling to international standard

Statistically valid random sampling per ANSI/ASQ Z1.4. You define defect classifications (critical / major / minor) and AQL levels; we execute impartially.

Function & safety testing

On-site testing per your test plan: drop tests, pull tests, electrical safety checks, color fastness, and whatever your product requires.

Packaging & labeling verification

Barcodes, FNSKU labels, cartons, shipping marks, and compliance labels checked against requirements — including Amazon FBA prep standards.

Rework negotiation support

When goods fail, we negotiate rework or replacement with the factory using the inspection report as evidence — and re-inspect after corrections.

Process

How it works, step by step

You approve every stage before we move to the next.

1

Define your standard

Before production, we document your spec sheet, golden sample reference, defect classification (critical/major/minor), and AQL levels. This document governs every inspection.

2

Book the inspection

Tell us the factory address, contact, and when goods will be ready. We schedule inspectors with 2–3 days' notice in most manufacturing regions.

3

On-site inspection

Our inspector works through the full protocol: quantity count, random AQL sampling, workmanship checks, function tests, and packaging verification — typically one man-day.

4

Report in 48 hours

You receive a detailed report with defect photos, measurements against spec, AQL results table, and a pass/fail verdict with our recommendation.

5

Decision & rework

Pass: release the balance and ship. Fail: we negotiate rework with the factory and re-inspect. You stay in control at every step.

AQL sampling reference (single sampling, normal inspection)

How many units we pull from your lot, and how many defects trigger rejection. A common starting point for consumer goods is AQL 2.5 for major defects and 4.0 for minor defects.

Pricing

Clear, honest pricing

  • ✓Flat $189 per man-day — one inspector, one full day, one product line at one factory.
  • ✓Most pre-shipment inspections complete in a single man-day; large or multi-product orders may need more.
  • ✓During-production and pre-production inspections are priced the same way.
  • ✓Re-inspections after rework are billed at the same rate — factories that fail often enough tend to stop failing.
  • ✓Monthly QC plans available for sellers with ongoing production.

FAQ

Quality Control Inspections — common questions

For most consumer goods, AQL 2.5 for major defects and 4.0 for minor defects is a solid starting point. Cosmetics, baby products, and electronics usually need tighter levels (1.0–1.5 for majors). Critical defects — anything affecting safety — are always zero tolerance. We'll help you set levels appropriate to your category and price point.
They do — and their incentive is to pass the goods, not to find problems. An independent inspector paid by you has exactly one job: report what they actually find. In our experience, factory self-inspections miss roughly half of what an independent AQL inspection catches.
You don't pay the balance until it's resolved. We present the failure report to the factory, negotiate rework or reproduction of the defective portion, and re-inspect. Most failures resolve in one rework cycle. If a factory refuses to correct documented defects, that's important information about the relationship.
Pre-shipment inspection on every order — yes, without exception, even with factories you've used for years. Quality drift is real and usually invisible until customers complain. During-production inspections are recommended for orders over $20,000 or complex products.
If the factories are in the same industrial area, often yes — we'll quote accordingly. For our consolidation clients, we inspect each supplier's goods before they merge into one shipment, so problems are caught before everything is mixed together.
Yes. We coordinate third-party lab testing (SGS, TÜV, Intertek) for materials composition, safety, and compliance certification — required for CE, FDA, CPSIA, and REACH. Lab testing is quoted per test; tell us your target market and we'll specify what's needed.
