Sourcing bags & luggage in China
China's bag manufacturing is concentrated in three great clusters: Guangzhou's Huadu district for leather goods and premium handbags, Baigou in Hebei for enormous volume and variety at sharp prices, and Quanzhou in Fujian for travel goods and luggage. Between them they cover everything from a $3 tote to a $300 leather weekender, with deep capability in cutting, stitching, hardware setting, embossing, and printing. Few categories offer this combination of design flexibility and price range.
Bags fail at the stress points, and the failure modes are predictable: stitching that unravels at handle attachments, zippers that separate (generic zips vs. the real thing), PU 'leather' that peels within months, handles and wheels that break under normal loads, and linings that tear. Material substitution is rampant โ 'genuine leather' trim that's actually bonded leather, 'YKK zippers' that aren't. A bag is carried, stuffed, and dragged; it gets tested by real life on day one.
CN Ally sources bags with the stress points in mind. We verify materials (leather vs. PU vs. bonded โ tested, not claimed), check zipper brands and cycle-test them, pull-test handle attachments and stitching, load-test luggage handles and wheels, and verify hardware plating quality. Our QC includes a full stress-point inspection protocol because we know exactly where bags break. We also check the details that sell bags: edge painting, stitching straightness, logo application, and color consistency across the production run.

Minimum order quantities, realistically
Factory MOQs are starting positions, not laws of nature. Here's what to expect in this category โ and how we work around it.
Most bags start at 200โ500 units per style and color โ cutting dies and stitching setup drive the minimum more than materials.
Genuine leather goods usually run 100โ300 units per style due to higher unit values and the cost of leather hides.
Luggage (hardside) typically needs 200โ500 units per model, with shell molding costs amortized across the run.
Hardware (custom zippers, branded pulls, custom locks) often carries its own MOQ โ we flag this early so it doesn't surprise you.
What we inspect for this category
Generic inspections miss category-specific failures. Our QC protocol for this category targets the defects that actually occur.
Material authenticity verification
Leather vs. PU vs. bonded leather verified by burn and cross-section testing โ not by the factory's word. 'Genuine leather' claims get checked.
Zipper brand & cycle testing
Zipper brands verified (YKK and equivalents vs. generics) and cycle-tested. Zipper failure is the #1 functional complaint for bags โ we test the exact failure point.
Stress-point pull testing
Handle attachments, strap anchors, and high-stress seams pull-tested. Stitching density checked at stress points. This is where bags break; this is where we look.
Luggage handle & wheel testing
Telescoping handles load and cycle-tested, wheels roll-tested under load. A carry-on with a failed wheel is a very expensive return.
Finish details inspection
Edge painting, stitching straightness, logo embossing/printing, hardware plating, and color consistency across the run โ the details that justify your price point.
